Westcombe Park 4th XV 12 Old Williamsonian 2nd XV 25

Even with the current economic situation there is building work in progress in the Willies camp with the old boys fielding a strong second team on a regular basis for the first time in many years.  On Saturday the 2nd XV paid a visit to Westcombe Park and as if emulating the 1st team put in a performance of high quality.

Rob Morgan opened the scoring using his pace to break through the Westcombe defence.  A further try was added by Cearon O’Flynn from the best move of the game, Martin Chandler feeding Morgan who looped a pass wide for O’Flynn to run in.  The home side came back into the game with two unanswered scores and an added conversion to put Willies 12-10 down.  Moran slotted a penalty to ensure old boys were leading at the half time break.

The second half saw the visitors dominate, Fanny Harrison with the trademark Harrison hand off took a Westcombe Park defender by surprise with the strength and pace attached to his portly frame, Morgan converted.  A strong all round team performance was rounded off with an audacious cross field kick from Morgan to substitute winger Lee Precaun who finished clinically.  Whiteys warriors showed a lot of heart and ability to chalk up their second victory of the season further displaying the strength in depth at Old Williamsonians this season.
